The Lyneham Village Post Office is a long established
business, now operating from the original premises on Chippenham Road
and serving the villages of Lyneham and Bradenstoke.
The Post Office is operated by Mrs Steph Chambers, who offers
all her customers a warm and cordial welcome.
Besides the usual post office counter services, such as sending mail
and parcels, paying out benefits, and administering government forms
for licences etc, there are a host of other services available to post
office customers. For instance; you can deposit and draw money from your
post office bank account and from accounts you have with many of the
major banks. You can buy travellers cheques and foreign cash, travel
insurance, pre-book car hire, and various other services for when you
are travelling abroad.
In fact there are a great many services available to you at your local
post office, and many helpful leaflets to explain everything you need
to know about financial, holiday and postal services.
Lyneham Village Post Office has a selected choice of greetings
cards for all occasions, and stationery. Envelopes
and packaging is available for any sized item, whatever your needs.
Smaller offices, such as Lynerham Village Post Office, really
need the support of the community they serve, because the authorities
are always looking at trimming down the number of post offices to
less than two thirds of the current number. This means that smaller offices
will be the first to close and those who used them will have to travel
further to use main post offices. We recall Mr Smith's Bradenstoke Post
Office was closed as a result of the cutbacks. So call in at your local
post office and see what's available to you. You won't be disappointed!
Personal Banking
Personal banking at the Post Office is quick, simple and safe from
taking out cash to cashing personal cheques and paying in. We offer a range of
services to customers with selected current accounts, basic bank accounts and
the Post Office card account.
Cash Withdrawal:
Getting cash out at any Post Office branch is free, easy and safe with
our new automated banking service - all you need is your card and Personal Identification
Number (PIN).
Automated banking is safe and secure, as you can only take out money
using your card and your PIN. The PIN pad screen is designed to prevent
anyone else seeing the number you are entering. Unlike cash machines,
you wont be limited to multiples of £10, but can withdraw
just the amount of money you need. If you have one of the following accounts
you can get cash out at the counter of Post Office branches using
your card and PIN.

The Royal Mail has started a new chapter in it's history,
with the introduction of Pricing
in Proportion, a system that will revolutionise

that the price of postage will be based not just on weight,
but on size as well. Full details more...
