80th Repatriation as 8 Fallen Heroes are returned home The 80th repatriation took place today of the latest eight fallen heroes, who have paid the ultimate sacifice serving for their Queen and Country. A single church bell tolled at St Michaels Church for over forty five minutes as the soldiers were gently carried off the C17 aircraft. Shortly after 4.30pm the coffins draped in Union Flags were escorted through a packed Lyneham village on their final journey to Oxfordshire. See the selection of photographs taken today

Town Cries Aloud Town criers from across Europe descended on Wootton Bassett this weekend for a traditional competition. The Ancient and Honourable Town Criers Guild Championship 2009, organised by Wootton Bassett town crier Owen Collier took place on Saturday 13th June 2009 outside the Town Hall and Museum.

Saluting the Heroes The bodies of three soldiers were poignantly repatriated through Wootton Bassett in the 75th ceremony of its kind. Lance Corporal Nigel Moffett from The Light Dragoons and Corporal Stephen Bolger from The Parachute Regiment and Rifleman Cyrus Thatcher were killed in Afghanistan during the last week.
