November was quite a split month with settled
weather in the first two weeks then unsettling depressions
resulted in a damp period from the 18th to the end of the
month. The total rainfall for November was 43mm which was
quite dry for a late autumn month. This lower than normal
rainfall was 43 per cent of the 30 year average at Lyneham.
The most rainfall in a 24 hour period fell on the 18th
were 14mm of rain was recorded. The temperature was above
average too, where thermometers averaged 0.5°C above
normal and the highest recorded temperature was 15.9°C
on the first day of the month and then gradually temperatures
declined. The coldest minimum temperature recorded was
-3.2°C recorded on the 24th. Clear and bright skies
allowed quite a significant amount of sunshine to brighten
up the autumnal scenes as fall began. Eighty-nine hours
total sunshine was documented which was 124 per cent of
the average. The longest day sunshine record was
on the 12th where 8 hours of bright sunshine, even though
