Following last
month which was the wettest May since 1983, June 2006
was a complete contrast. The total sunshine for the month
was 280 hours, which was 136% of the 30 year average. There
was only 2 days where no sunshine was recorded resulting
in seasonally high temperatures for June. The average temperature
for the month was 21.6°C which was 3.1°C above the
average. The highest temperature for the month was on the
10th where thermometers reached 27.8°C. The rainfall
was very low, considering the damp month before, 22 days
without precipitation and only 23mm was recorded for the
month. Astonishingly, nearly half of the total monthly rainfall,
fell on one day, which was 11.2mm on the 26th.
