March 2009: The opening ten days were
unsettled with frequent westerly, northwesterly and cyclonic
types. A fortnight of mainly anticyclonic weather followed
resulting in the equal highest hours of sunshine for a
March. The sunshine record was equalled to the previous
recorded in 1955 at 177 hours. Only 31mm of rain fell for
the whole month which was just over half the 30 year average
for the month. Fourteen millimetres of the month total,
fell on the twenty four period of the 3rd March. |
