March 2007 was noted as an exceptionally
sunny month, with 173 hours of glorious sunshine. This
was only four hours short from the all time sunshine record
set back in 1955. On the 21st March clear skies allowed
the sun to shine for 11.2 hours. The clear skies also brought
the temperatures down at night time, we had 3 nights of
air frost and the lowest minimum was recorded on the 21st
March with thermometers tumbling to -2.1°C. Despite
the relatively high sunshine we also had quite a wet month.
Heavy rainfalls on a few days allowed the monthly rain
to accumulate to 63mm which was 143% above the average. |
