Television Tuning
For good reception you need the right kind of aerial, correctly sited with good quality cable and connections. Aerials and cables both deteriorate over time and this is often the cause of reception difficulty. You will need to ensure that then television is correctly tuned as Lyneham is in a fringe area of both the Mendip and Oxford transmitters. Selecting your televison to auto-tune, you may pick up alternative channel frequencies. The listings below will enable you to ensure you get maximum signal strength with the aerial pointing in the right direction. Did you know analogue television transmissions will cease broadcasting on the 24 March 2010. All analogue channels will be switched off on the 4th April 2010. You will need to re-tune your digital equipment to pick up all available digital channels.

Weak Signal? Maintenance Work

Sometimes the Broadcasting Engineers have to carry out periodic maintenance on the transmitters or indeed carry out upgrade work to enable you to receive thae best possible signal in the area. The maintenance work is scheduled and prior notice is normally displayed on the BBC Enginnering webpage.
