ITV West, the Channel 3 commercial terrestrial broadcaster for the West of England, began life as HTV in 1968, and broadcasts seven hours a week of regional programmes to the two million viewers in the area. Its range of programming includes news, sports, current affairs, features, factual and documentaries. In February 2009, The West Tonight evening news programme changed its identity to The West Country Tonight as part of a massive ITV reorganisation.
