Paula Back on Track
Paula Radcliffe pounded the streets to win the New York marathon
(7th November 2004) 77 days after her Olympic nightmare.
Her triumph was seen by 275million TV viewers in 125 countries,
said: There was nothing of the dead and empty feeling
I had in Athens." Radcliffe outfoxed Kenya's Susan Chepkemei
in the final kilometres to win in a time of two hours, 23
minutes and 10 seconds. The time was almost eight minutes
off her world record but she said: "That doesn't matter

Four More Years of
Bush
United States of America President George W. Bush giving a
thumbs-up on the result of his campaign for re-election, November
3rd 2004. The U.S. election was neck and neck throughout the
entire campaign, but after taking a call from Democratic challenger
John Kerry who admitted defeat and conceded the White House
election, Bush will be in power for another 4 years and today
won a second term after the race for the White House boiled
down to a nail-biting battle for the state of Ohio. TV network
predictions claimed Bush would take the state - but with so
much at stake the Democrats refused to concede defeat until
the results were clear. |

Neck to Neck Race
President George W. Bush and Democratic rival John Kerry sprinted
across the United States in a mad weekend rush to shore up
support among loyal voters and sway the undecided, with both
campaigns trying to capitalize on terrorism fears raised by
the last-minute appearance of Osama bin Laden. Americal goes
to vote for the next President 2nd November 2004. |
