Lyneham pay tribute to 'fallen five'
The village came out in numbers to route line their own guard of honour. Many gathered outside Heather Moore and Hedgecombe joining the regular staff members, who do not hesitate to pay their own respects to the frequent repatriation ceremonies. Many residents lined the village high street right up to the village hall as the five fallen heroes were escorted by Police to Wootton Bassett and on to the Oxfordshire Coroners. More..

Residents of Lyneham paid their respects as the parishioners saw the repatriation of five fallen soldiers. The bodies of five British soldiers from one Essex Regiment, who were killed in Afghanistan, start their journey home to Wiltshire's air base, by a gigantic C130J Hercules for a poignant repatriation ceremony at RAF Lyneham. 16th June 2008 More..


Quen's Birthday Flypast

Lyneham's Hercules in Birthday Flypast
The Queen's official birthday 14th June 2008, was marked by a flypast of aircraft, including a Hercules from RAF Lyneham and two King Air 200s. It was one of the biggest flypasts in recent years, honouring 90 years of the RAF. One of the RAF's five C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft also led a group. It was accompanied by two Tornado F3s. The Queen also marked her official birthday with the Trooping the Colour parade
