History in the Shaking
28th June 2004. HISTORY was made in Iraq when the Allies gave power back to the people 9,114 days after Saddam Hussein's dictatorship began.The historic deal to free the Iraqi people was marked by a simple handshake. US administrator Paul Bremer clasped hands with Iraq’s President Ghazi al-Yawar as he formally gave sovereignty to the new interim government.


Olympic Torch in Britain
Roger Bannister, right, the first man to run a mile in under 4 minutes in 1954, transfers the flame from his Olympic torch to one held by British tennis star Tim Henman, Saturday 26th June 2004. The flame, on a six-week global odyssey before the Athens Olympics, is back in Britain for the first time in more than 50 years and London put on a giant party to welcome it with a string of celebrity torchbearers.


Euro 2004 English Fans

Euro 2004 - The Goal that was disallowed
Sol Campbell heads a goal which was then disallowed against Portugal in the Euro 2004 quarter-final at the Luz Stadium in Lisbon, June 24, 2004. This perfect goal would have ensured England victory in the last minute of normal time. Referee Urs Meier apologised, it was a mistake to Sven-Goran Eriksson later.


Wimbledon 2004 Rained Off
