Magic Roundabout is spruced
up by joker
SWINDON’S most famous roundabout started to
resemble a Christmas pantomime. Council leader Rod Bluh’s
Christmas tree dream is proving problematic after an aborted
first attempt to put up the tree at the Magic Roundabout and
jibes from Coun Derique “Scrooge” Montaut. Now
residents are getting in on the act as one mystery festive
joker planted a miniature Christmas tree in the middle of the

Swindon's Magic Roundabout tree
Finally Swindon's famous drivers haven The Magic Roundabout
gets its festive Christmas tree erected and lights turned
on. Pictured at night, showing the busy traffic light trails
supporting the spruced up tree lights. The 49ft tree has
sparked controversy ever since council leader Rod Bluh
announced the plan to erect it. Council leader Rod Bluh said
he is standing by his decision to bring some festive cheer
to the town’s landmark roundabout. |

Wallace & Gromit are Xmas stars
The BBC triumphed with its Christmas Day offerings – pulling
in nearly 16m viewers with a new episode of Wallace and Gromit.
Nick Park’s A Matter Of Loaf and Death was the most-watched
Christmas TV show, peaking with an audience of
15.8m and averaging 14.3m. The rating was the highest of
the year - even beating the X Factor final, which saw a peak
of 14.6m viewers tune in to see Alexandra Burke win the series.
