Mississippi bridge collapse
A concrete bridge collapsed into the Mississippi river
at rush hour in central Minneapolis killing at least seven
people. Around
50 cars and lorries were thrown into the river, injuring
dozens, after the road collapsed on Wednesday 1st August
2007 evening. Many were crushed by falling shards of concrete.
Rescue workers scrambled into the river gorge to help people
off the huge chunks of concrete roadway as fire and smoke
rose from the wreckage. The bridge was undergoing minor
repairs at the time of the tragedy, officials said. Early
reports suggested construction workers were using a jackhammer
before the collapse.

Solskjaer hangs up his boots
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought
the curtain down on his glorious playing career with Manchester
United
- but his
Old Trafford days are far from over, 28th August 2007.
After 11 years and 366 appearances for the club he joined
for a bargain £1.5million from Norwegian side Molde,
Solskjaer has had to finally call it a day due to an ongoing
knee injury.
Striker Solskjaer, who famously scored the winner in the
Champions League final against Bayern Munich to help the
club win the treble in 1999, has made several comebacks
in the last four years. The man famously nicknamed 'the
baby-faced assassin', will remain at United in a coaching
capacity and will continue to represent the club as an
official ambassador.

Brits set personal bests, Ohuruogu, who lives within sight
of
where the 2012 London Olympic stadium will be, won in 49.61,
