90th Anniversary
for Royal Air Force
The Royal Air Force has celebrated its 90th anniversary
with a fly-past of Red Arrows and Typhoon. The event involved a Red Arrows flight in formation
with four Typhoon aircraft along the River Thames to the London
Eye to mark the actual birthday. It started south of London City Airport, passing
the O2, Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge and Tate Modern before flying
over the London Eye. |

Comply or Die wins Grand National
Comply Or Die put the Pipe family name back on the John
Smith's Grand National roll of honour when landing a gamble
over the famous fences in the 161st running of the Aintree
spectacular, 5th April 2008. Joint favourite Comply Or Die held
off a strong challenge from King Johns Castle to take victory
by four lengths. Irish jockey Timmy Murphy rode the David
Pipe-trained nine-year-old for his first Grand National
win after 11 previous attempts. Snowy Morning claimed third
place, while Slim Pickings took fourth. |

Victory at last for AFC Lyneham
After 22 successive defeats that saw them concede 193
goals, basement side AFC Lyneham finally sent the champagne
corks popping with their first ever league victory in the Chippenham
and District Sunday Leaue Division 4 match. AFC Lyneham,
who had lost very game since joining the league this season,
gained a well deserved 4-3 victory away at Wanderers, who
had beaten them 8-0 at the start of February. more... |
