Calendar Allergy Scare
Confectionery group Cadbury has recalled around 360,000 chocolate advent calendars in a scare over allergies. Soya and nuts, which are contained in the chocolate and could trigger allergic reactions, are not included in the ingredients list.

The Anaphylaxis Campaign said swift action was needed to stop children with allergies from eating the chocolate. It is writing to 7,000 nut and soya-allergic members alerting them to the problem.

The Cadbury Dairy Milk 'Magic of Christmas' Miniatures Advent Calendar shows images of Fruit and Nut and Whole Nut chunks on the front of pack.

The company said people who had bought the calendars who are concerned about allergic reactions should return them to Cadbury for a full refund. It describes the chocolate as "perfectly safe" for people without nut or soya allergies.

Anaphylaxis Campaign director David Reading said: "With one in 50 children now allergic to nuts, we need to act quickly and are hopeful that the message will get through to people before December 1, when children begin opening their Advent calendars."

All other advent calendars produced by Cadbury Trebor Bassett, including the standard Cadbury Dairy Milk Advent Calendar, are unaffected by the recall.

People who have bought the calendar and would like a full refund should send it to:
