SAC Gill Lindsay RAF Lyneham Shoe-per collector helping others in need

A SHOE-PER COLLECTION
17th January 2007

SAC Gill Lindsay from RAF Lyneham has been gathering up her shoes for the Blue Peter Shoe biz Appeal and is keen to get everyone else involved. Already she has a shoe-per collection and is very keen to get more.

Senior Aircraftman (Technician) Gill Lindsay (21), works on 24/30 Squadron Engineering Line at RAF Lyneham and was watching Blue Peter with a friend when they advertised for the Shoebiz Appeal. She felt she needed to help and wanted to get everyone else at Lyneham involved too. She thought that after the Christmas Sales, people are bound to have a clearout of their old shoes to make room for new ones in their wardrobes and the Shoebiz Appeal would be the best place for these old performers.

To be an official collection point for the Appeal, Gill must collect at least 100 pairs of shoes from RAF Lyneham. Shoe boxes have been deposited in various locations around RAF Lyneham, including the HIVE, which is accessible to the public. Can you help? Any type of shoes can be deposited including trainers, flip flops and high heels as long as they are in pairs and don’t have any holes in them.

Captain Brad Braddock, Junior Engineering Officer and Gill’s Flight Commander said, "Gill consistently has an outgoing demeanor and is always keen to help others when ever needed. The Shoe biz appeal is right up her alley and I'm sure that she's up for the challenge."

The money raised by Blue Peter after they have recycled the shoes will be used to build Children’s Corners in Malawi for children orphaned by parents who have died from Aids. The appeal will be running up until August, but Gill will be collecting up until the end of February.
