Fancy a challenge
walking the beautiful Malvern Hill’s?
Want to raise money for a fantastic cause?
Would you rather help by working on the day?
The Royal Air Force Lyneham Malvern Challenge 2010, will be
held on SATURDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER 2010. You
are invited to join us, walking across the beautiful Malvern
Hills to raise money for Help for Heroes. Children
and Dogs are also welcome as the walk is on footpaths
and we will marshall you safely across this Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty.
The Malvern Hills have been
described as a mountain range in miniature, the eight mile
ridge containing some of the oldest rocks in Britain, their
craggy outline giving the impression of uplands further
west. They were good enough for Mallory to come and walk
in preparation for Everest whilst staying with colleagues
at Malvern College.
You can enjoy over 4500 acres
of open countryside climbing to the highest point at Worcestershire
Beacon or enjoying the quiet ramblings along the wooded
slopes.
It is an individual challenge. The distance you do and
the time you take is not important, it is not a race.
You can walk the long challenge (about 10 miles) or the
short challenge (about 5 miles). Both contain flatter routes
or harder routes over the peaks!
The Challenge costs £5. Once payment is received
you will be registered for the event so return the registration
form and payment promptly to avoid disappointment. You
will receive an information pack once registered. This
contains maps of the routes, ‘race’ number,
sponsor form and t-shirt if purchased.
T-Shirts cost £10 and raise
even more money for Help
for Heroes. They make for great
photos and provide a lasting memento of the event – we’d
like to encourage everyone to join in and get a T-Shirt!
