Swindon Town Pay Respects
to Crew
A minute's silence was held before Swindon Town's Coca Cola
League Division One match today in memory of the brave crew
of the RAF Hercules which crashed in Iraq. The aircraft was
en route from Baghdad to the city of Balad when it came down
25 miles north of the capital.
Ten servicemen died when the C130K Hercules, from RAF Lyneham,
came down on 30th January 2005 . All but two of the victims
were stationed at the Wiltshire base.
Players and 5,511 fans paused as referee Hall blew the whistle
to pay their respects before the match against Barnsley at
the County Ground. |
