Previous works include the construction of
schools and kitchens, the installation of water facilities,
the refurbishment of an orphanage and the installation of
a dental facility. Much of this previous work has been undertaken
in and around the slum communities of Nairobi.
Flt Sgt Brophy, 48, an airframe aircraft engineer on 47/70
Squadron RAF Lyneham, has always had an overriding desire
to improve the lifestyle for the countless underprivileged
children and families of Nairobi. "It took a while before
I realised that I had just experienced a moment of deep personal
significance" a statement Eddie reflects upon so often
when his first notions were being spun around his unselfish
mind.
Andy Humm, web designer to Lyneham Village Online,
served at RAF Lyneham with Eddie Brophy, both spent many hours
reflecting on their community work helping unfortunate families.
Andy recalls "Involved in over thirty years of charity
and community work myself, many in the Royal Air Force, the
endless work that Eddie achieves is unsurpassable and he has
a rewarding personality supported with a cheerful smile which
he has passed onto thousands of African families to make their
lives that much better. "
"Eddie achieves the impossible, he has set himself many
major overseas charity projects, to many that seem so difficult,
but he will never give up to ensure that the tears of personal
hardship are turned into tears of happiness"
Many of the projects Flight Sergeant Eddie Brophy has undertaken
with a view to making a difference to the lives of underprivileged
children in the slum areas of Nairobi, Kenya involve extraordinarily
physical, and often emotional journey's to some unique and
occasionally inhospitable environments. The Project teams
have met some remarkable people and forged new friendships
with some unforgettable characters in these often astonishing
areas of abject poverty.
Eddie Brophy endless project plans include a visit to Marich,
nr Kitale in Africa in February 2006 to build a bridge to
improve local transport needs, a new flooring in a medical
clinic, and improve local education by introducing a needed
school building. For further information, and see if you can
