On 9 March 06, the Mayor of Wootton Bassett, Councillor Chris
Wannell visited Lyneham to show off the new Link in is Chain
of Office. A gift from RAF Lyneham, the link is detailed with
the RAF Lyneham Crest.
It was produced to promote closer ties between RAF Lyneham
and the neighbouring town of Wootton Bassett, home to many
serving and retired RAF personnel.
Group Captain Atherton met with the Mayor in his office and
after photographs with the new chain, the pair joined the
Station Executive Officers for lunch in the Officers Mess.
A previous event took place at the Marsh Farm Hotel on 7 December
2005, whereby the former Station Commander of RAF Lyneham,
Group Captain Paul Oborn, presented the Mayor with a specially
made cake.
