Police call for your help
12th March 2008
Due
to the increase of Anti Social Behaviour and Criminal Damage
in Lyneham the Neighbourhood Policing Team which consists
of Wiltshire Constabulary and Ministry of Defence Police
Officers have taken positive
action against youths where a substantial amount of
alcohol has been seized.
The Officers wish to stress that not all youths are causing
unacceptable behaviour but unfortunately many get tainted
with the same brush.
The Police will use the Powers they have to move youths
on under the Section 27 Violent
Crime Reduction Act 2006 and confiscate
alcohol from them. Where the youths are being supplied
alcohol the offending person will be liable to prosecution.
The vast amount of Police hours in Lyneham are in dealing
with Anti Social Behaviour and damage caused by Youth Offending.
Over the last month or so and in particular during
the School half term period, further damage has been done;
the Bus Shelter on Calne Road adjacent to the CO-OP is
full of Graffiti, the Telephone Kiosk on the junction of
Harrow Grove and Calne Road was smashed, the Bus stop at
the bottom of Preston Lane and the information Board opposite
Lyneham Primary School again smashed.
A vast amount of the Graffiti in the village is with the "Tag" WIZ
and WIZARD and the Police would like this individual named
so that they can be prosecuted.
So quite simply the Police are requesting information
to identify these offenders where we want the community
to name these individuals who are damaging the area, the
answers to these crimes are within the Village.
Parents speak to your children, do you know where they
are when they leave your home, what groups they mix with
reiterate to them what is unacceptable behaviour, and also
ask them to name and shame the offenders.
We will take positive action with information we receive
as the Neighbourhood Police Team is a joint force initiative
in Lyneham we have the Support of the Ministry of Defence
Police Divisional Support Group from Larkhill, and as a
result of information received there search team carried
out area searches for evidence to assist with prosecutions
following recent Criminal Damage.
So the simple message is help us to enhance your quality
of life in Lyneham with information that will lead to convictions.
