St
Michael and All Angels Lyneham Together with St Mary's Bradenstoke
Annual
Church Fete and Garden Party
6th July 2002
The 2nd Annual Church Fete and Garden Party held at Hocketts
Close was a great success owing to the large support from
the people who attended this year. A profit of almost £1500
was raised for parish funds.
The summer fete was opened by Group Captain Ray Lock, Station
Commander of Royal Air Force Lyneham. The large audience seemed
to enjoy themselves bringing a welcomed smile with the glorious
weather.
For the second year running Bill and Anne Hancock hosted
the fete in the grounds of their house and as insurance against
the weather a large marquee was erected. Parishioners of Lyneham
and Bradenstoke ran the varied stalls. Lots of hard work was
put in behind the scenes to make the day so successful.
Sufficient to say that without their hard work, the fete
would not have got off the ground. We have a selection of
images at the Fete.

Proudly displaying her rosettes for winning the Loudest Bark,
and Best Obedient Dog category. Katie also came third in the
"Loveliest Face" category too.

children getting their face painted.
Sophie Lock (third down) from Lyneham proudly giving "Poppy"
a much deserved hug after lifting 2 second prizes in the "Obedient
Dog" and "Loudest Bark" category. The Terrier
Cross also received Top prize in the "Loveliest Face"
category.
The children's fancy dress brought many great entries including
"Bob the Builder" Jack Saunders aged 2 from Bradenstoke
who came second. "Little Bo Peep" Ebony McIntyre
aged 3 from Lyneham village received 3rd Prize with her great
effort. Jack's elder brother William, age 5, entered with
a topical entry as "Spiderman".
In addition to the stalls we were lucky enough to have a
display by the Lyneham Flyers whose ages ranged from 5 to
16. They entertained us with movement and dance on the lawn
of the old house and were watched by a large appreciative
audience.
To get the crowds in and get us noticed we enlisted the
help of the Calne Players who arrived in Pantomime dress adding
colour and spectacle to the occasion.
If you enjoyed it this year put a note in your diary - the
Summer Fete next year is on the first Saturday in July 2003.
- SEE YOU THERE!
