PEOPLE in Lyneham who do not have access to transport will benefit from a special free Christmas service. The minibus taxi service, run by Bradies Taxis, started today and continues every Thursday during the run-up to Christmas.

The elderly and infirm will have the chance to use the service to do their shopping at the local Londis store in Calne Road.

The 10am pick-up point will be at The Flats in Pound Close. A 12-seater bus will be laid on for the service. Passengers will be collected again from the store and taken back to The Flats at 11am.

A spokeswoman at the store said: "The shop is doing this on its own initiative. We have quite a number of OAPs in Pound Close, which is quite a walk for them, so we decided to do this for them." She said that if the idea was a success the shop owner, Vince Masi, may look at offering the service to other residents in the area.
