The Wiltshire committee of the British
Horse Society has celebrated the organisation's diamond
jubilee with a dressage series which culminated in finals
at the
Warminster
Saddle Club. This year's champions were Jasmin
Raven, from Calne, on Midnight Marius (walk and trot), and
Felicity Parker, from Warminster, on Flash (Prelim).
Five qualifiers were held at Pewsey
Vale Riding Centre,
Wiltshire College Equestrian Centre, Warminster Saddle
Club, Rabson Manor and Wickstead
Farm Equestrian Centre.
County chairman, Robert Sullivan-Tailyour, said: "Over
300 entered and 45 qualified. The competition was open
to all ages but was limited to those who had not taken
part in Affiliated Dressage Competitions before.
Three
members of the county BHS committee reached the finals
- Gail Worthy from Market Lavington was sixth in the
walk and trot, Jan McKernan from Shrewton competed in the
walk
and trot and Lorraine Bone from Pound Close Lyneham was
seventh in Prelim 16. Lorraine was the instigator of the
dressage
championships in 2006.
"Due to the interest shown in the championships,
the committee has decided to run it again in 2008, but
is upping the stakes a bit with the addition of a novice
test. Thanks go to Kristy Green of North Bradley, who organised
it all. Also many thanks to the judges and all the helpers
who made it run so well." |
