News - Index - Tsunami Disaster 2004

The Asian Tsunami Earthquake

We have witnessed possibly one of the most disturbing tragedies in living memory. The tsunami that has devastated coastlines around the Indian Ocean, now known to be one of the top five worst natural disasters ever. What clearly distinguishes this disaster from the rest is the magnitude of the death toll.

The confirmed death toll has soared to 140,000 and will possibly rise even more owing to the health risks and decease, attributed to the vast destruction to infrastructure and sanitation.

Words can not describe this stomach wrenching tragedy. The only thing we can do is reflect on how lucky we are, where ever we are, and think, about how the lives of so many have been seriously affected by the disaster in Asia.

We ask everyone to dig deep and spare every penny possible for the disaster fund, to help the families.

The Black Ribbon
Lyneham Village Online has placed a black ribbon here in homage of the millions who have had their lives displaced as a result of the Asian Tsunami on the 26th December 2004 .We especially pray for the families affected and the tragic lose of life to the many, many thousands.

Our deepest sympathy, condolences and prayers are sent from Lyneham Village Online.

The question everyone is asking is: “How can I help?”
