Robins The background

One Minute Silence tonight
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the tsunami tragedy

During this period, we gather with our families and friends to celebrate New Year.

Also at this time we have witnessed possibly one of the most disturbing tragedies in living memory.

The tsunami that has devastated coastlines around the Indian Ocean, now known to be one of the worst natural disasters ever. What clearly distinguishes this disaster from the rest is the magnitude of the death toll. The death toll has soared over 120,000 and will possibly rise even more owing to the health risks and decease

Please join us tonight, just before we welcome in the New Year and observe a minute silence for all the lives lost in the Asian earthquake tragedy.

We would like you to join us in observing this minute silence tonight from 23:59 to the chime of Big Ben at midnight, ringing in the New Year.

It will give us a chance to reflect on how lucky we are, where ever we are, and think, about how the lives of so many have been seriously affected by the disaster in Asia.

The silence will be in respect for all the families that have lost loved ones, the people who have had their lives completely overturned, the people who have property that has been swept away and reflect on how we wish their lives are brought back to some sort of normality. Soon.

Our deepest sympathy, condolences and prayers are sent from Lyneham Village Online.

The Black Ribbon
Lyneham Village Online has placed a black ribbon here in homage of the victims on the earthquake and tidal waves in Asia. Grieving friends, family and survivors of the Asian quake disaster will hopefully, pause for a few moments of New Year's Eve to reflect on the tragic end to a sometimes brutal year

The question everyone is asking is: “How can I help?”
My answer is this: Send every penny you can afford to the disaster appeal fund on the number below.

Lyneham Village Online visitors can give to the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal by phoning the Disasters Emergency Committee automated number 0870 6060 900. The London HQ of the Disasters Emergency Committee have reported 500,000 calls last night. They averaged 1,418 a minute from Brits giving money to the Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.

When you get through you will be asked for your name, the amount you would like to donate, your credit or debit card number, your full address including postcode and a daytime phone number. You can also send a cheque payable to the DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal to PO Box 999, London EC3A 3AA.

Or you can donate online by visiting www.dec.org.uk and following onscreen instructions.
