RAF
Lyneham Families’ Day
- Tuesday 15th August 2006
Once again the station will be holding an Open Day for families
of personnel who work on the base. Regrettably, it is not
possible to open the event to members of the public, simply
because it designed as an informal fun day for personnel who
have worked extremely hard throughout the year.
Mid-week is chosen mainly to ensure a reasonable selection
of flying displays (these are often fully booked nearly 12
months in advance for weekend events). Local residents may
wish to be aware of the likelihood of noise from display aircraft.
These include the Red
Arrows, the Battle
of Britain Memorial Flight, the Army
Air Corps Historic Aircraft Flight and Lyneham's
C130J Hercules Display.
It is expected other aircraft may arrive to participate is
a ground static display, therefore the station would like
to forewarn residents that there is a likelihood of additional
aircraft noise during the daytime while the jets arrive and
depart.
We appreciate your consideration for this slight disturbance,
but it is an opportune moment for many of the service personnel
at Lyneham to share a few valuable home family moments, together
during this open day, apportioning what goes on in the ever
demanding life within today's armed forces personnel. We all
are very familiar what an important role Lyneham's personnel
and it's planes play in supporting all the world conflict's,
first in and last out.
