Vikings invaded Lyneham Primary School and took a class of
Year 3 pupils captive on Friday. A single blast of a horn
echoed through the corridors before a sword-wielding Viking
stormed into the classroom to capture the eight-year-olds.
Teacher Sharon Smith said: “It was a fantastic day,
a great success.
“The children were in their class and then they
were taken captive and rushed off to the Viking camp for
the day. They absolutely loved it and everyone had a fantastic
time.”
A traditional Viking tent, complete with cooking equipment,
was set up and the children were taught how to cook, light
a fire and throw spears by the Viking Society.
Mrs Smith said: “We had spent the week before preparing
and the children had made their own tunics and belts to
wear.”
