A NEW taxi-bus service is providing Bradenstoke and Lyneham
residents with a new sense of freedom. North Wiltshire MP
James Gray launched the A2B taxi-bus service, funded by Wiltshire
County Council, at Mary the Virgin Church in Bradenstoke,
and the service is already attracting new passengers each
day.
The new bus, a seven-seat Volkswagen Sharan, has been introduced
to improve links from Bradenstoke to neighbouring Lyneham.
The new service is being run by local taxi driver Mick Drewett
of Bradies in Dauntsey. Journeys have been timetabled to connect
with other bus services from Lyneham to Chippenham, Swindon
and other destinations.
Two early morning and late afternoon journeys now enable
people living in Bradenstoke to travel to and from work in
Chippenham, Wootton Bassett and also Swindon. The lunchtime
service from Bradenstoke and a mid-afternoon service returning
to the village, caters for people wanting to shop or travel
to facilities such as doctors' surgeries.
A2B is also operating one journey each way on Friday evenings
and a Saturday daytime return service. The new taxi-bus complements
the existing bus service. It gives local people a greater
choice of more flexible transport.
The passengers using the service must be members of the A2B
Smart Travel Club and membership is free.
Passengers should call the booking line on (01249) 890794
to book a seat.
