Royal Air Force Lyneham, which is the home of the Hercules, which fly to all corners of the globe, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Hercules affectionately known as Fat Albert, have been regarded as, and still are, the work horse of the Armed Forces. The aircraft and personnel from this active Wiltshire base have been the first in and last out on many of the many conflicts overseas. The station which had been threatened with closure as a result of a Strategic Defence Review , then handed a lifeline during the Iraq conflict, has now been confirmed to close by 2012. We bring you the news that affects RAF Lyneham, its personnel and community.
