National Bus Passes from 1st April 2008
National Bus Passes from 1st April
2008
From 1 April 2008, a new national bus pass scheme will
be introduced.
The new pass will mean that people who are eligible will
be able to travel free between 9.30am and 11,00 pm weekdays,
all day weekends and bank holidays on any bus in England.
In previous years, travel had been restricted to the local
area only.
Across Wiltshire (excluding Swindon), people will be able
to use their bus passes at any time of day and those with
disabilities may also be able to take a companion with
them, free of charge. These extra benefits are paid for
by North
Wiltshire District Council and the other district
councils across the county.
So that bus operators will recognise the new passes, they
will look the same across the country. However, they cannot
be used on taxis, community transport or coach travel.
The new bus passes have already been issued to people
that are renewing their details.
If you think that you
are eligible this year and would like more information
