News - Index - Bogus Callers - 4th April 2009

Your attention is drawn to male who is travelling across the country obtaining money from trusting persons associated with churches.

The suspect is described as being, white, approx 25yrs of age, 6' 00" tail, with noticeable crooked teeth, he speaks with a Scottish accent.

His usual practise is to locate the Parish or Church notice board and obtain names and addresses of people attached to the church. He then uses this information to call on those persons suggesting that the Vicar/Priest, whose name he will use, has sent him along. He then convinces the victim to lend him sums of cash.

He is said to be very plausible and easily wins his victim's confidence.

At a recent offence in Pill, Somerset an old white car with a small spoiler on the back was seen. The index was taken as P669HYP

Please be aware of this male's activity, he was recently in the Bath area and could possibly visit Wiltshire.

In the event of any suspicious male please contact contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 or if you have any concerns please speak to your local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
