FICTION came to life in Swindon this weekend when the main
characters from a Lyneham author's book joined her at a book
signing.
Author Annie Waller, whose husband Trevor is a pilot based
at RAF Lyneham, was at the Waterstones store in the Brunel
Centre signing copies of her first novel Married to Albert,
which is about a woman who marries an RAF pilot. And lead
characters Guy and Kate were helping copies to fly off the
shelves.
"It has gone really, really well," said Annie,
37, who was wearing her wedding dress as Kate. "Waterstones
told me to expect the worst and if we sold ten books they
would be pleased. We sold 30 in the first hour it's
been an amazing response.
"I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who
has helped me today."
Annie describes the novel as being Peter Kay meets Jilly Cooper.
And praise for the novel is already being heaped on the author.

Fan Jane Brooks, of Winterbourne Monkton, said: "It is better
than Bridget Jones so much funnier. "My favourite part
is when Guy proposes in the restaurant and it all goes horribly
wrong. "It is just an amazing book. I can't say enough good
things about it."
Annie has already completed her second novel, Girl Guidance, which
is due to be published next year. Leon Finch, assistant manager
at the store, said: "The signing has gone very well indeed,"
he said. "It is always good to get behind a local author and
give them our support wherever we can."
The book is on sale in Swindon Waterstones and costs £6.99.
"Married to Albert" Author Annie Waller (ISBN 0-9546399-0-1)
