Fitness these days involves balance, flexibility, endurance. It involves being strong for the sake of performance and health rather than for the sake of having a ripped torso.

It involves the outdoors as well as the indoors. It involves what goes on in our minds as well as our bodies. It no longer involves punishing ourselves, and doesn't have to be strenuous to achieve health benefits.

It's important to exercise regularly, ideally 30 minutes or so of moderate exercise (ie: brisk walking) several times a week, but remember any exercise is better than none.

You may find it helpful on the days you don't visit a proper club, to break your 30 minutes of activity into 3x10 minute intervals throughout the day. In fact recent research suggests that this is a very effective way of boosting your metabolism.


The human body was designed to move and the more you do so, the better it will perform!

Some of the local Fitness Clubs feature very comprehensive facilities including a range of the latest weight resistant and cardiovascular equipment, together with a selection of free weights and dedicated stretch areas.

Dedicated clubs offer a Personal Training service, enabling our members to take the direct route to results. The personal trainers are qualified fitness professionals who specialise in many different areas, such as weight management, injury rehabilitation, sports specifics, nutrition, martial arts and flexibility.

Most gyms also feature ‘cardio-theatre’ TV screens to keep you entertained with the latest news, sport or soaps!
