Family home of the Marquis and Marchioness of Landsdowne, Robert Adam's Diocletian wing of a once larger house includes magnificent orangery, library, chapel, sculpture gallery (with famous Lansdowne Marble) and the laboratory where Joseph Priestley discovered oxygen in 1774. There are fine collections of costumes, watercolours and Napoleonic and Indian treasures. There are also a pinetum, arboretum, parterres, spectacular seasonal rhododendron gardens and an outstanding adventure playground.

A Elizabethan house of 1582 bought by Paul Methuen in the mid-18th century to house his major collection of 16th and 17th century Italian and Flemish master paintings and statuary. In the mid-19th century the house was enlarged to contain a second collection, purchased in Florence, of fashionable Italian masters and stone-inlaid furniture. The collection includes work by Chippendale, Adam brothers, Van Dyck, Rosa, Rubens, Lippi, Reynolds and Romney. Formal gardens include herbaceous borders, lily pool, rose garden and a rare stone bath house.

Built by Sir John Thynne in 1580 and still owned and lived in by the family. It was the first Elizabethan house to be built in the Italian Renaissance style. Attractions include Victorian kitchens, bygones, dolls houses and Dr Who exhibitions. Visit the World famous Safari Park.
