Film Locations in Wiltshire
Over the years,
Wiltshire has been used as the backdrop for a number of big
budget movies, lavish TV dramas and star studded comedies.
From Bond to Pride and Prejudice and Robin Hood: Prince
of Thieves to Harry Potter the rolling Wiltshire countryside,
ancient villages and stately homes are proving far from camera
shy.
A visit to the region will allow you to see for yourself
the wide variety of settings used in many of your favourite
movies and television dramas.
Calne Walk Away And I Stumble Filming
for ITV's two-part production began inside St Mary's Church
in Calne where former Eastenders star Tamzin Outhwaite
walked down the aisle as a bride for the fifth time in
her filming during June 2005.

Castle Combe Stardust - Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Sienna Miller
all featured in the fantasy romance Stardust, being filmed
in Castle Combe May 2006 Castle Combe was transformed into
a fairytale village from the Victorian era. Poirot in 'The Murder of Roger
Ackroyd' 1999. The diminutive moustached Belgian
sleuth retires to sleepy King's Abbot to cultivate his
garden, but even here murder soon rears its head. Dr Dolittle 1967 - A
musical about an eccentric English doctor who becomes fed-up
with human beings and decides to talk to the animals instead
Corsham Court Wives and Daughters 1999 - Period drama about middle-English
society on the eve of the Industrial Revolution Remains of the Day 1993 -
Set just before World War II, a regimented butler puts his stiff-upper-lip
before anything else, especially love, romance and other similar
stuff-and-nonsense. Corsham Court was one of four stately homes
in the West Country used to film both exterior and interior shots,
with Corsham Court used for the library and dining room interiors
Lacock Harry Potter and the Half Blood
Prince - October 2007 The
house, home of the Talbot family, including the Medieval
cloisters seen in the movie plus 'Hogwarts'
classrooms. Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s
Stone 2001 Eleven-year-old orphan Harry Potter
discovers he is a wizard, like you do, and has been accepted
to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Sorcery,
Quidditch and scary beasts ensue. Pride and Prejudice 1995 - Lavish adaptation of the Jane
Austen novel about the Bennett sisters. Randall & Hopkirk 1999 - Remake of cult sixties serial
Longleat House & Safari Park BBC ‘Animal Park’ first hit our screens
in 2000 and has been attracting millions of viewers ever
since. Presented by Kate Humble and Ben Fogle, the series
goes behind the scenes to investigate the daily goings on
and dramas of this world famous safari park and stately home.
Wilton House Sense
and Sensibility was filmed here in 1995. The Madness of King George 1994
King George III begins to behave in an odd manner thirty years
into his rule over England, shouting obscenities at people, spouting
garbled rubbish and attacking his wife's young Mistress of the
Robes, Lady Pembroke. Starring Nigel Hawthorne and Helen Mirren. Pride and Prejudice 1995 Lavish adaptation of the Jane Austen
novel about the Bennett sisters The Bounty starring Mel Gibson, Edward Fox, Anthony Hopkins,
Laurence Olivier in 1983. In 1787, William Bligh, a real-life
sea captain, steered The Bounty on a 27,000-mile voyage into
danger, chaos and mutiny.
Old Wardour Castle Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 1991
starring Kevin Costner. Have-a-go-hero Robin Hood sets out to
avenge the death of his dad and then go on to save the lower
classes from the power-crazed and down-right nasty Sheriff
of Nottingham. Old Wardour was used as Locksley Castle, the home
of Marion. A staircase in the castle remains is featured
in the movie.

Far From
the Madding Crowd Devizes 1967 Based on Thomas
Hardy's classic, Far from the Madding Crowd is set in
the 19th century, and centres on the somewhat stubborn
country-bumpkin Bathsheba Everdene and the three very
different suitors who fall for her charming ways.
