Lyneham Village Online Dog Fouling

Lyneham is taking the stress out of the doggies' mess!

Most people actively encourage dog owners to act responsibly and clear up after their pets. Those that leave their mess behind are liable to a £75 fixed penalty notice.

With many dedicated dog waste bins throughout the Parish, there is no excuse to leave dog mess on the streets and in parks or open spaces.

Have you a problem with dog fouling in your area? The sooner we know about it the sooner we can respond.

We encourage responsible dog ownership as part of the promotion of the health and welfare of its residents. If you have witnessed an incident in your area, and the owner deliberately refuses to tidy up the dirt, you can contact us by completing the form below.

It is now illegal not to clear up the mess left by your dog. This applies to all parks and open spaces, all roads and pavements, including roadways and gutters, open spaces and highway verges. Enforcement officers inspect these areas regularly. Dogs are also excluded from some areas of parks, mainly children's playgrounds.

A fixed penalty notice of £75, with a reduction to £50 if paid within 14 days, is issued to those in charge of the dog at the time. Failure to pay within 14 days could result in £1,000 fine through prosecution in the Magistrates Court.

This action is helping to achieve the high standards of street cleanliness that residents of the Parish expect. However, action will only work in a joint effort undertaken by the entire community: the Council, dog-owners and pedestrians alike.
