Queen Mary 2

In this week Seventy years of seafaring are linked as, amid fanfares and fireworks, the Queen officially named the Queen Mary 2. The 1,132ft-long vessel, which will now become Cunard's great flagship in succession to the QE2 which the Queen launched in 1967. The first Queen Mary was launched at Southampton by the queen's grandmother -- Queen Mary, wife of King George V -- in 1934. The ship was retired in 1967 and is now docked permanently as a hotel in California. The Cunard website provide details of the Queen Mary 2 and all her sister ships. The QM2 is due to start her 14-day maiden voyage to Fort Lauderdale in the United States on January 12th 2004.

Mars Exploration Rover

The Mars Exploration Rover mission is part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the red planet. Launched towards Mars on July 7, 2003, in search of answers about the history of water on Mars. The website provides the overview, latest images sent from the six-wheeled rover and background information behind the red persuit.
