What Are
Tithe Apportionments?
The tithe apportionment is a record that accompanies
the tithe map. It gives
the following information for every titheable piece
of land on the map: the plot number, the name of the
field or piece of land , the name of the occupier, the
type of cultivation, the acreage and its tithe valuation.
Every plot on the tithe map has a number on it and this
matches the entry in the apportionment below. We have
digitised the first four columns of information and
the acreage and valuation have been ommited.
If you wish to access this additional information,
it is available at the Wiltshire and Swindon History
Centre in Chippenham. The Tithe
Map from where this
data is taken is Reference 2981/1L |
