Bygones - Index - Genealogy |
Genealogy is the new national
craze.
A recent survey has revealed that tracing the family tree
is turning into a national craze that spans generations. Lyneham
is packed with memories, lifestyles, history, and traditions.
Our village has thousands of historic facts and you could
be holding onto some small part that will fill the holes in
our jigsaw 'a history in the making'. There are many missing
pieces of this timeline jigsaw. We are starting to document
the bygones here. As we receive them we will archive them
here for all to peruse. 'A History in the Making'
The age of those researching their family trees is spread
evenly over all ages. The majority began their search out
of curiosity and over a quarter have traced their ancestry
back more than three centuries, while a small percentage have
gone as far back as 1600 and beyond. Lyneham Village Online
is in search for ancestors to the village in hope that we
can reveal what life was like in the community.
You may be interested to know, that there are some excellent
resources on the internet and the number of people interested
in the subject is growing far faster than anyone had ever
