The Village Green 2006

Lyneham village green roundabout located in the north of the village. The junction is for the main A3102 Swindon to Calne route and adjoined by the B4069 Chippenham Road, leading down to Dauntsey.

In the early 1960's before the M4 motorway was built, the Wootton Bassett and Chippenham Roads were the primary trunk route between Swindon and Chippenham.

The A3102 from neighboring Wootton Bassett was formerly marked as the A420 and the current A3102 from this junction towards Calne was the B3102. Originally this roundabout was a T-junction with a triangular central island and a slip road leading through traffic from Dauntsey to Wootton Bassett.
