Greenfields Estate Static Homes

The image was taken on the 26th February 2008 of the newly constructed static homes built on the former site of 'The White House', No 84 Chippenham Road, next to the village Post Office (Ordnance Survey Grid Reference SU 018 793). The old White House was demolished in September 2006 and was on the previous cottage (25) site owned by George Hiskins a former Coal Dealer for the village in 1848. According to the 1821 Tithe map of the Heneage estate this land was owned by Elizabeth Pullen and it was called Newmans (28) `Greenfields Estate` is owned by Maguire Homes

Do you know any other village bygones, facts or hold images of the past, what the building was used for, who visited it, or do you you have a tale to tell with the life in Lyneham. If so please let us know so we can fill in the missing bygones of the village and share it with everyone else. Please contact the webmaster here.
