The July 2007 Downpour

The image taken on the 20th July 2007 at Lyneham Village Green - adjacent to the roundabout sign post. The normally pasture green was overcome by the excess water flooding from the Swan River behind the bus stop. Lyneham did not experience as much flooding as the neighbouring villages down the B4069. Christian Malford was particularly bad as the River Avon burst its banks and the road had to be closed for at least 48 hours. while river levels dropped. Do you know any other village bygones, facts or hold images of the past, what the building was used for, who visited it, or do you you have a tale to tell with the life in Lyneham. If so please let us know so we can fill in the missing bygones of the village and share it with everyone else. Please contact the webmaster here.
