The White House Chippenham Road

The image taken on the 19th September 2006 of 'The White House', No 84 Chippenham Road, next to the village Post Office (Ordnance Survey Grid Reference SU 018 793) as the demolition was in progress. The White House, as it was known was being demolished and plans were passed by North Wiltshire District Council (now Wiltshire Council) to build surface plants for three new static homes on the site. All of the external wall bricks were kept during the demolition process to be used on another property being built locally.

Do you know any other village bygones, facts or hold images of the past, what the building was used for, who visited it, or do you you have a tale to tell with the life in Lyneham. If so please let us know so we can fill in the missing bygones of the village and share it with everyone else. Please contact the webmaster here.
