Chippenham Road Council Houses

The image taken in the late 1950's of Chippenham Road Council Houses, Ordnance Survey Grid Reference SU 016 795. The brick houses were built adjacent to the main Swindon to Chippenham A420 road. The priority of traffic was routed via Dauntsey. The 10 houses at St. Michael's Close, situated behind these houses, were being considered and planning applications drawn during early 1949.

With thanks to Clive Hendon for a copy of this picture postcard.

Do you know any other village bygones, facts or hold images of the past, what the building was used for, who visited it, or do you you have a tale to tell with the life in Lyneham. If so please let us know so we can fill in the missing bygones of the village and share it with everyone else. Please contact the webmaster here.
