Lyneham Mill House 1900

The image taken in the early 1900's of Lyneham Mill House located next to the Old Mill. Ordnance Survey Grid Reference SU 024 798. This building was located next to the three storey old mill brick house occupied by Mr James Hiskins. This small dwelling house described as a property with two bedrooms, single living room, pantry together with capital orchard and a small garden adjacent to the Mill Pond used to power the overshot watermill. Mr Hiskins rent lease terminated on the 25th march 1909, and from that day on, the structure has become derelict and run don.

With thanks to Ray Cole for a copy of this picture postcard.

Do you know any other village bygones, facts or hold images of the past, what the building was used for, who visited it, or do you you have a tale to tell with the life in Lyneham. If so please let us know so we can fill in the missing bygones of the village and share it with everyone else. Please contact the webmaster here.
