The Strings - The Great Copse

This image taken 21st February 2008 of the Great Copse woodland which runs south adjacent to The Strings stream south of Lyneham. OS Map Grid SU 028 773

The public footpath meanders south through the woodland which was owned by Jacob Large in 1821 at the time of the Heneage Estate Tithe map publication.

The furthest part of the woodland to the left of the image in the background, is Auliff Copse which was named after Mr John Auliff a former church warden in the village and he was also a tailor. Mr Auliff was the church warden to St Michaels Church in 1687
