Avon Vale 2006

This image early April 2006, from the Catcombe Old farm track that lies on the border of the RAF Lyneham airbase (Ordnance Survey grid reference: SU 007 774) looking west towards Avon Vale and Foxham.

The large Catcombe Wood (in shadow) on the right is the lower section of deciduous wood which is on the escarpment away from the airbase. The wood runs from 125 metres above sea level gradually down to about 85 meters at Wood Farm.

The grey farm buildings looking left from the white Wood Farm house is Stockham Marsh Farm. The small low lying reservoir is a water catchment area, which was used to serve the Foxham area for drinking water.
