This picture taken 2nd May 2009, shows the Station
Sub-Post Office white portacabin building which was
the former station Lloyds Bank. The Post Master was
Mr Sid Skull who moved into the building when Lloyds
Bank moved from the station. The former post office
area was laid to grass.
The
area here has significant historical heritage to the
local community as it is the location where the former
Lyneham Court manor building stood prior to the Air
Ministry demolished it in 1939 to make way for the
new airbase which opened 18th May 1940.
The building to the right were the former Education
Centre for the airbase.
