This image is of C130K Hercules Mk 3 XV305 slowly being lifted onto to lengthy transportation trailer by civilian contractors at Royal Air Force Lyneham. This is the first of many as part of the decommissioning programme of Fat Albert. The 'Classic' Hercules fleet now consists of 11 x C130K.
As part of the changing requirements of the armed forces, the ageing older hercules fleet are coming to end of their working life. Three aircraft have been decommissioned and will be dismantled for salvage/recycling in Hixon Staffordshire.
